Biodata
- Dr Mark Fernandes is a well-established gastroenterologist with a special Expert In in liver illness at gutCARE Digestive•Liver•Endoscopy Associates. He graduated with honors from the University of Edinburgh and then completed his residency and gastroenterology training at Singapore’s National University Hospital. He completed an Advanced Fellowship in Interventional Hepatology at Taiwan’s Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and expanded his exposure to liver transplantation medicine at London’s King’s College Hospital. He was Singapore’s first gastroenterologist to perform radiofrequency ablation for the treatment of liver cancer. In partnership with the Department of Diagnostic Imaging, he created the Liver Tumour Ablative Service at National University Hospital (NUH) in 2009 and was also actively involved in the NUH liver transplantation program. Dr Fernandes also has a great interest in employing Fibroscan ® to track the course of liver disease.
- Dr Fernandes has presented research at international conferences and had articles published in peer-reviewed international publications. He previously worked at the National University of Singapore as a Clinical Tutor.
