Biodata

Dr Anita Chan earned her medical Qualification from the Yong Loo Lin (YLL) School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1998. Following that, she completed her ophthalmology residency at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and achieved her postgraduate ophthalmology fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh FRCS(Ed), and FAMS (NUS) in 2007.

Dr Anita Chan expanded her expertise by undertaking a general pathology residency at the Department of Anatomical Pathology and Cytology at Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She successfully earned her Fellowship in Pathology (FRCPath) from the Royal College of Pathologists, Edinburgh, in 2016.

Currently serving as a practicing uveitis specialist at SNEC, Dr. Chan also holds the position of Head of the Ocular Inflammation and Immunology Service. In addition to practicing ophthalmic pathology at SGH, she serves as the Clinical Director of the Ophthalmic Pathology Service at SNEC. Dr. Chan leads the Translational Ophthalmic Pathology Platform (TOPP), funded by the National Medical Research Council (NMRC), at the Singapore Eye Research Hospital (SERI).

A dedicated researcher, Dr. Anita Chan received Transition and Clinician Scientist awards in 2014 and 2019, respectively. Her research interests revolve around Precision Medicine in Ophthalmology and the exploration of animal models of ophthalmic diseases. She focuses on areas such as neuroglobin neuroprotection, lymphoma, and single-cell technology.
