Dr Tay Kuang Wei Kevin practices at Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospitals, Singapore, as an oncologist.

The special interest of Dr Tay is in women-related cancers such as breast and gynecological cancers, soft tissue and bone sarcomas, as well as hematological malignancies such as lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and leukemia.

He completed his postgraduate training at the University of Hawaii in internal medicine and his fellowship in medical oncology at the National Cancer Hospital (NCI), National Hospital of Health (NIH), in the USA. During his residency and fellowship programmes, he was appointed as chief resident and chief fellow.

He is one of the few cancer doctors in Singapore to hold certificates for the practice of internal medicine and medical oncology from the American Board.

Dr Tay Kuang Wei Kevin studied under many renowned oncologists during his tenure at NCI/NIH, including Dr Sandy Swain, a world breast cancer specialist, and Dr Giuseppe Giaccone. Under the mentorship of Dr Wyndham Wilson, Dr Louis Staudt and Dr Elaine Jaffe, he did 2 years of study at NIH. The main focus of his research was to understand the pathology of tumors in aggressive lymphomas.

Dr Tay Kuang Wei Kevin joined the Department of Medical Oncology at the National Cancer Centre in Singapore following his return to Singapore in early 2010. He continues to be a visiting consultant to the National Centre for Cancer today.

Dr Tay Kuang Wei Kevin is involved in translational research and was part of the core community at the National Cancer Centre awarded by the National Medical Research Council in Singapore with the prestigious centre grant. Their analysis involved the identification of a new mutation in NK/T-cell lymphoma and the redefinition of a new subtype of T-cell lymphoma associated with enteropathy. The Straits Times included both studies and published them in high-impact oncology journals.
