Biography

Dr. Tan has over 20 years of clinical experience in restructured hospitals managing challenging surgical cases. At the National Cancer Center Singapore (NCCS), he has been the clinical leader of the reconstruction of head and neck tumors and malignancies of the skin. Dr. Tan is also co-chair of the NCCS Cancer Service Line Development (CSLD) for nasopharyngeal cancer and a member of CSLD Thyroid Cancer and Head and Neck Cancer. In recognition of his exceptional clinical and service contributions, he was awarded the 2016/2017 Singapore Health Quality Services Silver Award and the 2018/2019 Gold Award. Dr. Tan has also received the SingHealth Publisher Award for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015 and has co-authored over 50 research papers published in top peer-reviewed journals such as Oral Oncology, Head and Neck, Surgery, Microsurgery, Cancer, and Oncotarget. Dr. Tan graduated from the National University of Singapore and completed his training in general surgery in 2006 before continuing his subspecialty training in head and neck resection surgery through his fellowship in head and neck tumor surgery. In addition, Dr. Tan completed another fellowship in Reconstructive Microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taiwan, under the supervision of Prof. Wei Fu-Chan and Prof. Jeng Seng-Feng. With his clinical experience and completion of these fellowships, Dr. Tan is well-versed in both head and neck resections and head and neck tumor reconstruction. Dr. Tan’s interests lie in head and neck tumors, head and neck reconstructive surgery, salivary glands, masses, skin tumors, thyroid, and parathyroid glands.
