Biodata
- Dr Roy Kan Kum Chuen is a board-certified anesthesiologist and Intensive Care Medicine specialist. He graduated from the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Medicine in 1998 and earned a postgraduate Master of Medicine (Anaesthesiology) Qualification in 2005. Dr Kan finished his fellowship studies at the Johns Hopkins Hospital’s Department of Anaesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine in the United States of America, where he earned the American Board Certification in Trans-esophageal echocardiography. Dr Kan now holds dual specialized accreditations from Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in anesthesiology and intensive care medicine.
- Dr Roy Kan Kum Chuen previously worked at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) as a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, as well as a member of the TTSH Clinical Board. He formerly served as Executive Director of TTSH’s 28 operating theatres. Dr Kan also served as the Clinical Director of TTSH’s ambulatory surgery center, which won an Asian Hospital Management award for operational performance in 2018 during his tenure.
- Dr Kan founded the National Healthcare Group’s anesthesiology residency program in 2009 and served as its inaugural Program Director until 2016. He was appointed as a Visiting Consultant to the Professional Training and Assessment Standards Division, Ministry of Health, and was invited to serve on the American Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Qualification – International Surgical Review Committee.
