Dr Prof Aung Tin, currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC), is a distinguished clinician scientist renowned for his significant contributions to the field of ophthalmology.

As the Lead Principal Investigator of the Large Collaborative Grant (LCG) titled “Tackling and Reducing Glaucoma Blindness with Emerging Technologies (TARGET),” Dr. Aung has successfully secured over S$20 million in competitive research grant funding. This groundbreaking $25 million multi-disciplinary and multicenter program grant, awarded by the National Medical Research Council of Singapore in 2022, reflects his commitment to advancing eye care through innovative approaches.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr Prof Aung Tin has earned prestigious accolades, including the Nakajima Award (2007), De Campo Award (2013) from the Asia Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, the Alcon Research Hospital Award (2013), the Singapore Translational Research (STaR) Investigator Award (2014 and 2020), and the Robert Ritch Award for Excellence and Innovation in Ophthalmology by the Glaucoma Foundation (2017). His leadership extends to roles such as President of the World Glaucoma Association (2016-2017), Board Member of the World Glaucoma Association and Asia Pacific Glaucoma Society, President of the College of Ophthalmologists of Singapore (2012-2014), and President of the Singapore Society of Ophthalmology (2009-2011).
