Dr Lim Kay Kiat is an orthopaedic surgeon who deals with feet and ankles. He is completing his GP training in the Novena clinic.

Dr Lim Kay Kiat completed a medical Qualification at National University of Singapore and proceeded to a surgical residency (MRCS Edinburgh, 2001). To get his Masters of Medicine Qualification, he completed his research at the National University of Singapore in Singapore and was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Orthopaedic Surgery in 2006. Having received a training grant, Dr Lim went to Toronto, Canada between 2006 and 2007 to conduct a clinical fellowship between St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.

Before Dr Lim’s move to private practice, he was an orthopedic surgeon at the General Hospital at Changi. Throughout the course of his career, he was noted for pioneering the use of maggot debridement therapy for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Dr Lim’s interest in the studies of sports injuries led him to develop a sports medicine practice at the Sports Medicine Centre.

Study is a significant part of Dr Lim’s medical practice. He has a strong interest in the physiology of foot and ankle disorders and gait which has provided him with several research grants. With Dr Lim’s participation in multicentre international medical studies, he has been involved in quite a few trials across various centres. His papers are much published in high-quality orthopaedic journals.

Dr Lim Kay Kiat also loves teaching, doing research and has EXPERIENCE YEARS as a clinical faculty at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and with the SingHealth Orthopaedic Residency Programme. He conducts training for a group of specialist orthopaedic surgeons; and supervises a group of trainees. Outside of his area of study, Dr Lim has been an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support course since 2004, helping people learn how to recognize and treat injuries.

Dr Lim Kay Kiat is still committed to sports injuries including the clinic. The doctor has been interested in the medical coverage of the Singapore GP since its debut. From 2008 to 2009, he served as a Deputy Chief Medical Officer for the track medical service, and is currently the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for racing medical intervention for major events.

Dr Lim herself is an endurance athlete and associates an interest in injuries among endurance athletes. He also offers rehabilitative, medical and surgical services for cycling-related accidents, including bike fit techniques to avoid and treat overuse injuries.
