Dr Lim Chin Tat is a specialist in orthopaedic surgery.

He is a specialist in complex joint replacements and orthopedic surgery, especially reconstructive surgeries.

Before relocating to private practice he was an orthopaedic surgeon at the National University Hospital.

Dr Lim Chin Tat earned his medical Qualification from the National University of Singapore in 2004, and later went on to obtain his master’s Qualification in the same field in 2012. In 2016, Doctor Lim obtained his fellowship from the (Orthopaedic) Academy of Medicine in Singapore.

Dr Lim was awarded the MOH scholarship for his dual advanced fellowship training. He completed an orthopaedic surgery residency and sports medicine fellowship at Oxford University Hospital Trust in 2015. After the surgery, he was able to practice sports surgeries, hip arthroscopy, and uni-compartmental knee replacement.

Following this, Dr Lim was admitted into a 12-month clinical fellowship in oral and maxillofacial surgery in America at Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Stanford University, California, USA, in 2016. He helped with the treatment and recovery of complicated hip and knee surgeries, even conducting sports surgeries. Additionally, he was interested in the administration of outpatient joint replacement and shoulder replacement procedures.

After successfully completing the fellowship, Dr Lim was admitted into the American College of Surgeons in 2017. Being a member of only a small handful of orthopaedic surgeons in Singapore who completed the USA’s clinical fellowship in medical surgery, Dr Lim is 1 of only 3 who have been admitted into the American College of Surgeons.

Dr Lim Chin Tat was a surgeon who taught at NUS’ Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine.

He has been very interested in teaching and educating physicians, residents, and medical students at a number of Qualificational levels. Dr Lim was the Deputy Undergraduate Medical Qualification Director of Orthopaedic Surgery, and a key faculty member of the National USMLE Phase 1 Program Dr Lim was honored for his teaching by earning a Residents’ Choice Award.

Dr Lim is enthusiastic about offering skilled and affordable healthcare. He was awarded a top ten poster at the 2019 Ministry of Health Value-Driven treatment conference for implementing quality care among patients who received complete hip replacement.

Dr Lim Chin Tat has conducted in-depth pharmaceutical studies in both clinical and basic science fields. He has written a large number of peer-reviewed journals. His area of research is on hip, knee and ankle prosthesis, as well as how to improve the longevity and protection of prosthesis. His latest project investigates new prototypes for hip replacements, which can be more fit for Asians. He is interested in developing surgical jigs for optimum use by surgeons and other medical professionals.

He received the P Balasubramaniam Young Investigator Award in 2012 for his work in the area of bone marrow stem cell transplantation for knee cartilage regeneration. Dr Lim received awards from NUS in 2012, including the NUS Leadership in Clinical Medicine Mentoring Program Award.

On a personal level, Dr Lim’s work with the group has been comprehensive. Dr Lim frequently provides information about orthopaedic disorders to the public.
