EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Lai Kah Weng is an orthopaedic surgeon based in Singapore. He is affiliated with Mount Elizabeth Hospital, Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, and Gleneagles Hospital. He is a subspecialist in arthroscopic joint and ligament repair, knee and hip replacement, and orthopaedic injuries.
Dr Lai Kah Weng earned his bachelor’s Qualifications in medicine and surgery from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and then completed a six-year residency program in aviation medicine with the Republic of Singapore Air Force (RSAF). In 2002, he became the first Singaporean to receive the coveted Stewart Memorial Prize for graduating at the top of his Diploma in aviation medicine in London, United Kingdom. He led a medical squadron and was deployed to East Timor on a United Nations peacekeeping mission during his tenure as a flight surgeon in the RSAF.
Dr Lai Kah Weng previously worked as an orthopaedic consultant in the sports and hip/knee divisions and as a faculty member in the National University Hospital’s postgraduate orthopaedic residency training program (NUH). He also completed an orthopaedic knee arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and trauma fellowship in 2014 at the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Hospital at the Royal North Shore Hospital in New South Wales, Australia, with Dr Myles Coolican, Dr David Parker, and Dr Brett Fritsch. - Dr Lai Kah Weng has participated at several international orthopaedic meetings and delivered several lectures to the general public and healthcare providers. Dr Lai is also a full member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association, serving as co-chairman of the technical committee for the association’s annual scientific conference.
