Dr Lai Kah Weng is an orthopaedic surgeon who works at Mount Elizabeth Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He is a specialist in hip and knee replacement and orthopedic trauma surgery.
Dr Lai completed his undergraduate medical and surgical studies at Singapore’s National University (NUS) and then completed 6 years of training in Air Force medicine (RSAF). He was the first Singaporean to be awarded the prestigious Stewart Memorial Prize in 2002 for graduating top of his Diploma in aviation medicine in London, UK. During his tenure as a flight surgeon in the RSAF, he commanded a medical squadron and was deployed to East Timor on a United Nations peacekeeping mission.
Dr Lai Kah Weng was an orthopaedic consultant in the sports and hip/knee divisions prior to his role as a staff orthopaedic surgeon at the national university hospital (NUH). While there, he also underwent a knee arthroscopy, arthroplasty, and trauma internship with Drs. Myles Coolican, David Parker and Bret Fritsch at the Sydney Orthopaedic Research Center at the Royal North Shore Hospital in New South Wales, Australia.
Dr Lai has participated at many globally important events, as well as at local conferences. Dr Lai is also an active member of the Singapore Orthopaedic Association and took part in chairing the annual scientific meeting of the group.
