Qualification & EXPERIENCE YEARS :
Dr Kong Hwai Loong is a specialist in adult cancer treatment with a particular emphasis on gastrointestinal/liver cancers, breast cancers and lung cancers. He was Associate Professor of Medicine / Oncology at the National University Hospital prior to the establishment of the HL Kong Medical Oncology Centre in 2005. He was also the Executive Director of the Biomedical Research Council of Singapore and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) Deputy Director.
Dr Kong received a Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) and a membership in the Royal Colleges of Physicians (United Kingdom) in 1993 after earning his medical Qualification (MBBS) from the National University of Singapore in 1988. Between 1995 and 1997, he completed post-graduate medical fellowship training at New York Hospital – Cornell Medical Center, USA. He received his medical oncology specialist Qualification in 1998 and was elected to be a fellow of the Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
In 2002, Dr Kong received his Masters of Business Administration from the Hospital of Technology of Massachusetts, USA. In 2004, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Doctors (Edinburgh, UK). Successes and Accolades.
Dr Kong Hwai Loong has received many international and national prizes, including the National Day Prize, the Singapore Youth Award, the Young Scientist Award of the Singapore Academy of Science, and the Merit Award of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.
Dr Kong Hwai Loong was the former chairman of the Medical Oncologists Chapter and the deputy chairman of the Medical Oncology Professional Training Committee of the Ministry of Health.
