Dr Jyotirmay Biswas is an ophthalmologist who specializes in uveitis and ophthalmic pathology.
He has a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery from Sankara Nethralaya and a fellowship in ophthalmic pathology from the Doheny Eye Center, University of Southern California, USA.

He published 467 articles in peer-reviewed PubMed indexed journals, 59 chapters in ophthalmology books. Over 300 papers were delivered at national and international conferences. He gave 400 lectures. He had four books on Uveitis and one book on ophthalmic pathology. He is a reviewer for 53 journals.

Dr Jyotirmay Biswas is a visiting professor at the Advance Eye Care Center at PGIMER Chandigarh and the Chinese University in Hong Kong. He was the main investigator of 13 research projects. He has been mentoring 45 uveitis fellows.

He has won 42 awards, including the Hari OM Ashram Award for Clinical Research from the Indian Medical Council.

Dr Jyotirmay Biswas is a member of the International Uveitis Study Group. American Society of Uveitis and the International Society of Ocular Inflammation. He is a founding member and former president of the Indian Uveitis Society. He was the first to identify AIDS ocular lesions in India. His new research areas include uveitis, AIDS and Eales disease.

He currently serves as Head of the Departments of Uveitis and Ophthalmic Pathology at Sankara Nethralaya, Chennai.
