EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Foong Lian Cheun received a Medical Doctorate from the University of London in 1996, after a two-year period of pioneering original studies on the causes and treatment of chronic pelvic pain in women. This thesis has been published in medical journals and has served as the foundation for significant additional studies on the topic in the United Kingdom. Clinically, he has received rigorous training in both assisted reproductive techniques (ART, also known as IVF) and laparoscopic surgery (“keyhole surgery”).
- Dr. Foong entered the National University Hospital in 1996 as a Consultant and Assistant Professor, where he proceeded to expand his clinical practice in laparoscopic surgery and the treatment of infertility due to a variety of causes, but especially the use of IVF. Additionally, Dr. Foong is interested in vascular disorders in women, especially in determining the cause of certain pregnancy-related conditions such as pre-eclampsia and in subfertile women, with a specific emphasis on ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, a rare complication of in vitro fertilization.
- Dr. Foong is currently a consultant at the National University Hospital as a visiting physician. Subfertility and laparoscopic surgery are two of Dr. Foong’s clinical interests.
