EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Yip Hwee Seng is a pulmonologist and intensivist at Parkway East Hospital, Gleneagles Hospital, and Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
Asthma, community-acquired pneumonia, endobronchial ultrasound, intensive care, and point-of-care ultrasound are among his areas of concern.
He treats chronic coughs, acute bronchitis, asthma, lung cancer, pneumonia, and tuberculosis. - Dr Yip Hwee Seng previously worked as a senior consultant respiratory physician and intensivist at the National University Hospital (NUH) in Singapore’s division of respiratory and critical care medicine.
From 2013 to 2019, Dr Yip also served as the clinical director of NUH’s Medical Intensive Care Unit. He oversaw a variety of quality enhancement programs at the hospital during his tenure.
Dr Yip was given the Academic Medicine Development Award (Team) in 2015, and he and his team traveled to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore to learn from world leaders in early mobilization of intensive care unit patients. He initiated a similar early mobilization program at NUH, which resulted in better functional outcomes for patients recovering from serious illness.
He earned a bachelor’s Qualification in 2001 from the National University of Singapore (NUS), completed his specialist training in respiratory medicine in 2010, and continued his Qualification in intensive care medicine in 2012.
Dr Yip has taught medical students at NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and has served as a key faculty member of the National University Health System’s Internal Medicine Residency Program.
