EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Yip Chin Ling William is a paediatric cardiologist based in Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital. Dr Yip is one of the few physicians in Singapore who is board-certified in both paediatrics and cardiology. His areas of expertise include interventional cardiology in the treatment of congenital heart diseases such as Fallot’s tetralogy, ventricular septal defect, and atrial septal defect, as well as foetal cardiology and electrocardiology.
Dr William Yip has over 40 years of medical EXPERIENCE YEARS . He was instrumental in the advancement of echocardiography and interventional cardiac procedures at Singapore General Hospital and the National University of Singapore’s University Department of Paediatrics.
Dr Yip previously served as an associate professor of paediatrics at the National University of Singapore’s Department of Paediatrics and as head of the Division of Paediatric Cardiology at National University Hospital. He continues to serve as an adjunct professor at the National University of Singapore and as a consulting consultant paediatric cardiologist at the National University Hospital’s Department of Paediatrics. - Dr Yip Chin Ling William pioneered balloon valvuloplasty and angioplasty in Singapore, as well as system occlusion of patent arterial ducts, secundum atrial and ventricular septal defects, foetal echocardiography, and intraoperative transoesophageal echocardiography.
Dr Yip has taught paediatric cardiology to undergraduate and postgraduate students at the National University of Singapore as a clinical instructor. He has also supervised paediatric cardiologists during transoesophageal echocardiography and interventional procedures and instructed paediatric cardiologists and obstetricians about foetal echocardiography.
Dr Yip Chin Ling William has been invited to lecture at international and regional medical seminars and conferences on a number of occasions. Dr Yip was awarded the 2009 Singapore Cardiac Society Lectureship in recognition of his contributions to paediatric cardiology.
He has represented Singapore as an active member of the Asia Pacific Society of Paediatric Cardiology and the Asia Pacific Congress of Cardiology for the last two decades, serving as the meeting’s organizing chairman in 2004. Since 2006, Dr Yip has also represented Singapore at the Asia Pacific Society of Paediatric Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery’s annual meeting in Bangkok.
In January 2004, Dr Yip Chin Ling William assisted in the establishment of the Adult CHD (congenital heart disease) Service at the National University Hospital. He is a founding member of the Asian Pacific Society of Adult Congenital Heart Disease, a country representative, and a senior advisor. He has authored 191 scientific articles in international and regional medical journals, 254 conference papers, and 14 books/chapters/theses on cardiology and pediatric topics.
