Dr Yeoh Lam Soon Ronald has expertise in cataract and retinal surgery, and his main areas of interest are in the advances of normal and advanced cataract surgery, the use of ultrasound or femtosecond laser technology, and advanced technology intraocular lens implants.
By 2013, he had been chosen to be a member of the International Intraocular Lens Club, which Ridley founded.
In 2014, Dr Yeoh was rewarded with a professorship at Duke-NUS College of Medicine.

Dr Yeoh Lam Soon Ronald has been widely praised for his achievements in the medical field. These technical awards include the Distinguished Contribution to Ophthalmology Award, International Council of Ophthalmology, Distinguished Service Award, Asia-Pacific Academy of Ophthalmology, Honorary Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, for contributions to ophthalmology in Asia, Singapore National Eye Centre Service Award, and the ACE Award (2002).
The distinction Dr Yeoh is most proud of was when his students voted for him as the Best Teacher at the Singapore National Eye Centre in 2000.
He has given two international lectures, the first at a local conference in Kuala Lumpur, and the second at a major international meeting in Beijing.
He received his residency in ophthalmology at the Moorfields Eye Hospital.
He pioneered small incision cataract surgery in Singapore and the Asia Pacific area when this surgery was first introduced to Singapore the early 1990s.
Dr Yeoh Lam Soon Ronald is a specialist in the field of intraocular lens implantation and has trained many young surgeons. This course is a frequent fixture at the annual American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ASCRS) conference in the United States for over 10 years.
Today, Dr. Yeoh runs non-invasive femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery workshops and produces instructional films that have won multiple awards at film festival competitions throughout Asia, Europe, and USA. In 2015, his Qualificational film, Femtophaco Follies, took home 3 major cataract and refractive surgery awards from these 3 major conferences.
Dr Yeoh gained widespread acclaim for his work in cataract surgery and was allowed to sit on the program committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He also sits on the ASCRS subcommittee of cataract surgery
He was one of the few Asian surgeons to have a film festival in San Francisco in 2013.
