EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Wong Yue Shuen graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1989.
He was admitted to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh as a Fellow in 1994 and completed his orthopaedic surgery residency in 1999. He was then awarded a Ministry of Health HMDP Scholarship to attend the University of Pittsburgh and the UPMC Center for Sports Medicine, where he specialized in foot and ankle disorders. Dr Wong then pursued a Master’s of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Nanyang Technological University, where he concentrated on orthopaedic biomechanics, sports engineering, and rehabilitation engineering. Additionally, he received an award for ‘Outstanding Project Dissertation’ for his work developing ankle prostheses for the treatment of ankle and subtalar joint arthritis. - Dr Wong Yue Shuen is a clinical lecturer at NUS’s Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and a frequent lecturer for the Specialist Training Committee for Orthopaedic Surgery, where he served as a former committee member. He is also an instructor for the Advanced Trauma Life Support Course and a regular lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Health Sciences. He has several scientific publications in the fields of sports and dance medicine, complete ankle arthroplasty, degenerative flatfoot, diabetic foot, and clinical biomechanics. He also co-authored a book chapter on Total Ankle Replacement surgical techniques. Additionally, he served as a reviewer for a number of journals, including Foot and Ankle International, the Singapore Medical Journal, and the Journal of the Singapore Academy of Medicine.
Dr Wong Yue Shuen treats a wide variety of foot and ankle conditions, including complete ankle replacement, and has been actively involved in the development of new methods for treating slipping peroneal tendons and calcaneal fractures. Additionally, ankle instability, Achilles tendon fractures, and treatment of osteochondral disorders of the ankle are often treated.
Dr Wong has a particular interest in foot and ankle surgery, specifically athletic, degenerative, dance, and traumatic foot injuries, as well as Sports Medicine and Sports Surgery, specifically knee and shoulder surgery.
