Dr Wee Siew Bock is a general surgeon who practices at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital. He specializes in the detection and treatment of breast disorders, with a focus on minimally invasive methods of diagnosis and early treatment of breast cancer.

Dr Wee Siew Bock graduated in 1985 from the National University of Singapore (NUS) medical school. He then completed general surgery specialist training and was awarded the NUS Master of Medicine in Surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK, in 1990.

Dr Wee Siew Bock then pursued training in breast cancer and endocrine surgery as a subExpert In. This included a training stint funded by a national surgical training scholarship award from the Singapore government in Sydney, Australia.

Dr. Wee was formerly the head of the Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) breast and endocrine surgery department, where he was involved in the reorganization of the clinical breast service. In the field of image-guided percutaneous breast biopsy, a minimally invasive diagnosis of breast tissue injury, he made important contributions to the management of breast diseases. He was the first local surgeon to integrate image-guided mammotome biopsy into a restructured hospital’s breast operation.

Dr Wee Siew Bock was also named head of breast surgery at the National Cancer Centre (NCC) and was a visiting surgeon at the Kandang Kerbau Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and TTSH at the Singapore General Hospital (SGH). His appointment at NCC helped him to organize, coordinate and improve breast cancer management practices.

Dr Wee Siew Bock co-chaired a committee appointed by the ministry to look into the creation of guidelines for the management of breast cancer in Singapore in clinical practice. Since its inception in 2002, he has been actively involved in preparing and conducting the national breast cancer screening programme. He has also been involved in Singapore’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month events since its establishment in 1997. Dr Wee served on the committee of the Singapore Academy of Medicine’s Chapter of Surgeons.
