At Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Singapore, Dr Teo Ching Ching Melissa is a general surgeon.
Surgical oncology, gastric surgery, colorectal surgery, and the peritoneum of the pelvis are her clinical interests.
She has EXPERIENCE YEARS with stomach and colorectal cancer, sarcoma, melanoma, and peritoneal disease control.
She received additional training in complex abdominal and pelvic surgery and, in 2009, completed two fellowships at the University of Toronto in surgical oncology and colorectal surgery.
Head of the Surgical Oncology Section, Dr Teo Ching Ching Melissa is a visiting consultant at the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS), the country’s specialist centre for cancer diagnosis, study and treatment.
Dr Teo Ching Ching Melissa currently co-chairs the paediatrics/sarcoma/melanoma workgroup at NCCS and is a member of the NCCS Cancer Service Line gastrointestinal tract workgroup. In ACP surgery, she is the vice-chair for faculty relations and professional development. She is also the chair of the current NCCS Building Committee and the head of ACP Oncology Strategic Initiatives.
She is an assistant professor at the DUKE-NUS Medical School, and an assistant assistant professor at the Yong Loo Lin Medical School of NUS.
In Singapore, she is a keen advocate for the advancement of cancer treatment and is a member of the Singapore Society of Oncology. She also sits on the Singapore Cancer Network Sarcoma Guidance Committee, and is a member of the Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Health Technology.
Dr Teo holds several positions of research leadership and is the principal investigator on more than 43 boards of institutional evaluation. More than 130 peer-reviewed publications and 6 book chapters were written by her.
Dr Teo Ching Ching Melissa has won several awards, including the 2018 Outstanding Faculty Award for Residency at SingHealth Excels (RiSE) and the 2016 Outstanding Faculty of Surgery at DukeNUS Medical School.
Her goal as a surgical oncologist is to enhance cancer treatment in Singapore and the region by growing patient understanding and management of the disease, leading to the setting of guidelines and pushing the boundaries for cancer management in the next generation of surgical residents, clinical fellows and medical students in her areas of expertise and Qualification.
