Dr Tan Yah Yuen is a breast surgeon practicing at Singapore’s Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Dr Tan Yah Yuen specializes in the treatment of all breast conditions, including breast lumps, discharge of nipples and cancer of the breast. She has EXPERIENCE YEARS in minimally invasive breast surgery and procedures such as vacuum-assisted needle biopsy, guided by ultrasound.

Dr Tan Yah Yuen attended a 1-year fellowship program at the University of California, San Francisco, in 2004, after receiving the Health Manpower Development Plan grant, and honed her breast and endocrine surgery skills.

Dr Tan was a senior consultant at the Breast Surgery Department at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital before founding her private practice. She pioneered the Sentinel Lymph Node Program for early breast cancer during her time with the blue dye approach using dual-radionuclide. At Tan Tock Seng Hospital, she had previously set up the same programme. For women with early breast cancer, this treatment is now the standard of care.

Dr. Tan was the lead participant in a 3-year trial investigating the utility of mammary ductoscopy in the diagnosis of irregular discharge of the nipple and breast cancer.

Dr Tan Yah Yuen is now a member of the International Society of Surgery and International Breast Surgery. In journals such as the World Journal of Surgery and the Annals of Surgical Oncology, she has also written articles.
