- Dr. Tan was a Senior Registrar at Singapore General Hospital prior to becoming an Orthopaedic Surgeon at Gleneagles Hospital.
- Dr Tan was a 1997 recipient of the 15th ASEAN Orthopaedic Association Junior Travelling Fellowship. Additionally, he has written and presented articles on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction and endoscopic palliation techniques for advanced esophageal carcinoma.
