Dr Tan Chyn Hong is a pediatric orthopedic surgeon based at Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital. He is specialized in treating hip, knee, and elbow injuries.
Dr Tan Chyn Hong pioneered the technique of rotator cuff surgery with no incisions through the shoulder joint. He was the first to perform the keyhole rotator cuff repair without using metal or plastic implants.
He was the director of sports medicine at the National University Hospital, and is now a specialist in private practice. He was in charge of a team of orthopaedic surgeons, a sports physician and a sports therapist. His patients included a number of national athletes and professional football players.
Dr Tan Chyn Hong was a member of an advisory committee charged with the establishment of the national standards in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis. At the same time, he was awarded the inaugural College of Surgeons Gold medal from the Academy of Medicine Singapore for becoming the most outstanding fellow in the Royal College of Surgeons (Orthopaedic Surgery) Edinburgh Test.
He expedited his training by practicing abroad in the shoulder, knee and elbow. He specialized in care of professional athletes, such as in the treatment of torn rotator cuffs and degenerative disorders including torn rotator cuffs and arthritis of the shoulder and knee.
Dr Tan’s passion of sports began in eighth grade when he played Judo. He continues to work with injured athletes by taking care of their injuries, and helping them get back on their feet. He took on more study in Australia and underwent subExpert In training dealing with hip, knee and elbow injuries where he interacted with professional athletes, as well as ordinary people with an exceptional passion for their sport.
