Dr Suresh Nathan Saminathan is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is part of the Mount Elizabeth medical team. His area of specialization is the treatment of bone and soft tissue tumours of the musculoskeletal system and the revision of joint replacement, and he specializes in the treatment of revision surgery.

Dr Suresh Nathan Saminathan completed his undergraduate studies in medicine at the National University of Singapore , and obtained his orthopaedic surgery training at the National University Hospital . (NUH). With his Master’s Qualification in medicine, he acquired an academic place at a university and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr Suresh Nathan Saminathan has worked for a number of years at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre in New York, USA, as a musculoskeletal oncologist. He gained in-depth knowledge of adult reconstruction which enables him to restore function to areas removed by tumor removal and revision arthroplasty surgery. Dr. Nathan also worked at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and the Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York on osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer.

Dr. Nathan was previously a senior consultant and clinical director of joint replacement surgery at the NUH. Dr Li is a chief of the Musculoskeletal Oncology and Sarcoma research community at the National University Cancer Hospital (NCIS). He is the Principal Investigator of the Musculoskeletal Oncology research laboratory at the National University of Singapore Clinical Research Centre.

He is one of the three senior orthopaedic surgeons who serves on the National Healthcare Group and National University Health System of the Ministry of Health’s DSRB that decides the ethical issues in medical research.

Dr Nathan served as chairperson of the committee on Clinical Competencies. In 2007, he was the first graduate of Singapore’s medical school to become a member of the International Society of Limb Salvagers . He was the only Singaporean member on the committee for the musculoskeletal cancer society, and was elected as their president from 2014 to 2016. He is a joint replacement specialist with two joint replacement firms and also a consultant.

Dr Suresh Nathan Saminathan has contributed to the American Orthopaedic Research Society and been cited in Who’s Who for Men, a publication recognising outstanding individuals in their respective fields.

Dr Nathan has achieved professorial status as an associate professor of orthopaedic surgery, and he is based in NUS. She has published over 100 research papers in conventional, general surgical journals and in essential surgical textbooks.
