Dr Surendran R is a well-known Surgical Gastroenterologist with a combined EXPERIENCE YEARS of over 23 years.
He is the pioneer of successful liver transplantation in India, the only one of its kind in the public sector. He also pioneered the formation of the Cadaver Maintenance Program, a world first.
He has received numerous awards for his efforts, including being named Tamil Nadu’s Best Doctor in 2002. He also earned a special mention from the Tamil Nadu government in 2010.
Dr Surendran R was awarded a Doctor of Science (Honors) Qualification by Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. University.
Dr Surendran R is a member of the Indian Association of Surgeons, the Tamil Nadu Medical Council, and the Forum of Asian Surgical Leaders. He is also a member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, the Indian Society of Oncology, the Association of Colorectal Surgeons of India, the Indian Association of SGE, and the Indian Chapter of the Hepato-Biliary-Pancreatic Society.
Dr Surendran R has authored and published multiple articles on his research and has also presented at and participated in a number of seminars, conferences, and continuing medical Qualification events.
He earned his MBBS from Madras University in Chennai, India in 1991, his MS in General Surgery from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) in 1995, and his MCh in Surgical Gastroenterology/G.I. Surgery from The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University (TNMGRMU) in 1990.
