Dr Soon Yee Hoong Michael is a doctor at the Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

He is specialized in arthroscopic reconstructions of the knee and shoulder, and works with stem cells to regenerate cartilage and restore joint function. He is involved in the diagnosis and treatment of knee dislocations and malalignments.

Dr Soon Yee Hoong Michael obtained a Bachelor’s Qualification in Medicine from the National University of Singapore, and spent his orthopaedic training in Singapore. Then he was awarded a Ministry of Health scholarship in 2006 that further helped him to hone his surgical skills. His training took place at Porto Alegre, Brazil, where he was educated in his primary Expert In. He was involved in the preparation and health care of top soccer players, which included FC Barcelona and European professional players. Dr Soon was trained in the use of PRGF (plaPhoneet-rich growth factor), which has been used in Spain for the treatment of sports injuries.

Dr Soon Yee Hoong Michael is best known for his work on preservation and reconstruction of cartilage and shoulder surgery. Dr Soon works with doctors and nurses on clinical training, and also teaches and trains doctors and nurses. He taught for the Secretariat for the Master of Nursing in Critical Care. He is also a nationally recognised arthroscopic knee/shoulder specialist, and an instructor for the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ISAKOS).

Dr Soon Yee Hoong Michael is an advocate of science and is proud of his award for his work on allografts and stem cells. This study along with his other medical studies was discussed at past international conferences. Dr Soon is a co-investigator of a federal grant aimed at discovering alternative therapies for osteoarthritis.
