Dr. Sivathasan is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon who has been instrumental in establishing several major programs in Singapore such as the Mechanical Heart Assist and the heart-lung transplant program at the National Heart Center Singapore.

Dr. Sivathasan received the prestigious National Outstanding Clinical Award by the Ministry of Health in 2011, for his contributions to the development of cardiothoracic surgery for almost 25 years. In 2010, He was also awarded the Healthcare Humanity Award, presented by the President of Singapore.

Dr. Sivathasam is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Academy of Medicine Singapore. He also completed his post-graduate surgical training in the U.K. Dr. Sivathasan has been taking on an active role in helping to initiate Mechanical Cardiac Support Programs in numerous countries through various training workshops. He has also traveled widely in the region helping various hospitals in the Asia Pacific such as India, Thailand, Vietnam Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, and Australia, in initiating or introducing newer mechanical heart devices to support failing hearts.

Dr Sivathasan’s specialty interests are aortic aneurysm, aortic valve replacement, chest and lung surgery, coronary bypass surgery, LVAD and heart failure surgery, mitral valve repair/replacement, and pectus excavation repair, and carinatum and vascular surgery.
