Dr Siow Yew Ming Anthony is an obstetrician and gynecologist at Singapore’s Gleneagles Hospital. His areas of expertise include endometriosis, general gynecology issues such as irregular menstruation, miscarriage, and menopausal changes, as well as laparoscopy and hysteroscopy. Dr Siow Yew Ming Anthony has over two decades of institutional EXPERIENCE YEARS and was the founding director of KK Women’s & Children’s Hospital’s minimally invasive surgery center (KKH). There, he was instrumental in establishing the laparoscopic fellowship training program and the endometriosis clinic. He also initiated the KKH’s laparoscopic suturing workshop.
Dr Siow Yew Ming Anthony received a Singapore government scholarship for advanced laparoscopic surgery and spent a year honing his expertise in advanced endometriosis surgery and pelvic floor reconstruction in Sydney, Australia. He was the first gynecologist in Singapore to perform single-incision laparoscopy for hysterectomy and myomectomy, as well as the first to perform combined myomectomy and cholecystectomy through single-incision laparoscopy with a general surgeon. He is regularly invited to give lectures and perform demonstrations on single-incision laparoscopy in other countries. As a result, he performed Indonesia’s, the Philippines’, and Vietnam’s first single-incision laparoscopic hysterectomy. He is also one of the few gynecologists in the country who has performed more than 400 cases of laparoscopic surgery with a single incision. He is often consulted for a second or even third opinion on difficult gynecological problems. Thus, after two decades of obstetrics practice, Dr Siow has shifted her attention to assisting women with their gynaecological health, which may include complex gynaecological surgery. From 2007 to 2011, he received the KKH Service with a Heart Award. His enthusiasm for teaching advanced laparoscopy has drawn specialists from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, and the Philippines to practice with him. In 2007, he was recognized as an outstanding clinical educator, and in 2009, he was named visiting professor of laparoscopy at the University of the Philippines.
