Dr Siow Hua Ming is an orthopaedic surgeon. He works in Mt Elizabeth and Gleneagles Hospitals. He aims to provide comprehensive, specialized and personalised treatment in sports injuries and orthopaedics. He specializes in key-hole surgery for the back, elbow, forearm, hip, knee and ankle.
He is well versed in pediatric orthopedics.

Upon graduation from the University of Glasgow, Scotland, Dr. A received a Master’s Qualification in Biochemistry, and then specialized in Surgery . (MRCS Edinburgh, 2002). In the year after he completed his Master of Medicine in General Surgery, he completed his most specialized training in general surgical orthopaedics. In 2006, he was admitted to become a Fellow of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He subsequently completed a one-year fellowship in paediatric orthopaedic surgery at CHOP in Philadelphia in 2007, and was subsequently inducted as a fellow of the Singapore Academy of Medicine.

Dr Siow Hua Ming’s practice was established prior to his place in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital. Michael is also specialized in treating general paediatric orthopaedic patients, but is the only orthopaedic surgeon in Singapore specializing in sports injuries. As a part of his responsibilities he was active in the creation of the adult orthopaedic programme. He went on to become Director of Sports Medicine and Surgery at Alexandra Hospital in 2010. He also played a crucial role in growing the capacity of the sports medicine center. He was also simultaneously a Research Director and a Training Director. He was an active member of the medical board and chaired several hospital committees.

Medical training and Qualification are essential to Dr Siow’s career. A previous stint at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine at the National University of Singapore culminated in his positions of Adjunct Assistant Professor. He was in charge of the Orthopaedic Residency Programme of the National University Health System. He was a Senior Teacher with the Joint Committee for Specialist Preparation, orthopaedic surgery teaching program. He has written several chapters in orthopaedic textbooks, and has published in important orthopaedic journals.

Dr Siow Hua Ming’s dedication to his area of specialization exceeds that of any other physicians. He is a member of two large national medical societies. He is a founding member of the Asia Pacific Orthopaedic Association (APOA). He is a member of both the European Society of Sports Traumatology Knee Surgery and Arthroscopy, and the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine (ESSKA).

Dr Siow Hua Ming is active in many civic activities including volunteering to work in the St. John Ambulance Association as chairman of the Jurong Branch, and as a member of the St. John Singapore Council.
