Professional Statement

Dr Shikha Bassi received her MBBS in 1997 from Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College in Bombay. Following that, she earned a diploma in ophthalmology from C.U. Shah College of Ophthalmology.

In 2001, she was named to the National Board of Diplomacy. Sankara Nethralaya has earned her a fellowship in advanced cataract surgery. She passed the International Council of Ophthalmologists’ exams. From 2001 to 2004, she worked as a consulting ophthalmologist at St. Thomas Hospital. During this time, she moved to the United Kingdom to work as an observer ship under Dr. Kotta at the National Trust hospital in Grimsby.

She then applied for fellowships at the Royal College of Surgeons (Glasgow) and was awarded one in 2002. She received specialized training in Neuro-ophthalmology at the Medical Research Foundation, a Sankara Nethralaya unit, where she is now an Associate Consultant in Neurophthalmology and Cataract surgery.
