In 2015, Dr Randeep Guleria was awarded the Padma Shri. He works as a senior consultant pulmonologist at All India Hospital of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi. He is a professor and the director of the AIIMS department of pulmonary medicine and sleep disorders.
He has won several awards and distinctions, including the “Raj Nanda Pulmonary Disease Fellowship” awarded jointly by the Raj Nanda Trust and the Royal College of Physicians, UK in recognition of his training and study. Dr. Randeep has written 36 book chapters and over 268 review papers.
Dr. Randeep served as Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s personal physician during his tenure as India’s former Prime Minister. He is an active member of the WHO Scientific Advisory Group of Experts (SAGE) influenza vaccine and immunization working group. He works as a radiation safety in medicine consultant for the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. He is a member of a number of national organizations, including WHO Epidemiology.
