- Dr Rajendra Tiruchelvarayan is a Gleneagles Hospital neurosurgeon.
He is a general neurosurgeon who subspecializes in spine surgery and pediatric neurosurgery. Dr Rajendra is a paediatric neurosurgeon who treats children and adolescents who have suffered head trauma, hydrocephalus, brain tumors, or spinal issues.
Dr Rajendra began his practice at Gleneagles after serving as a senior consultant neurosurgeon at Singapore General Hospital, KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, and Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s National Neuroscience Hospital, where he conducted procedures such as brain tumor excision and sweaty palms thoracoscopic surgery. - Dr Rajendra Tiruchelvarayan also treats a large number of patients who suffer from back and neck pain, as well as patients who have complex spine issues. At Singapore General Hospital, he pioneered the use of intra-operative neuronavigation. He conducted one of the largest numbers of Thoracic Spine Pedicle Screw Instrumentations in the area using this enhanced technique, with findings published in the British Journal of Neurosurgery in 2012. Dr Rajendra joined the National Neuroscience Hospital (NNI) in 2013 as director of spine surgery. His expertise in endoscopic neurosurgery has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Apart from conducting complex spine surgery, Dr Rajendra is an educator, having delivered multiple spine workshops and lectures in the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand, and Malaysia. He was also invited to give a live demonstration of spine surgery in Hanoi, Vietnam (Hospital 108). Dr Rajendra, in addition to clinical practice, teaches medical students and serves as an adjunct assistant professor at Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School.
