Biography

Dr. Prakash R. Paliwal specializes in Neurology. Her interests include Headache, Stroke, Epilepsy, Parkinsonism, Neuropathy, Myopathies/ Myositis, Autoimmune Neurology Disorders, and Spinal Cord Disorders.

Dr. graduated. Prakash from Vadodara (India) in 2003. He completed his MRCP (UK) in 2009. He joined Advanced Specialist Training at NUH Singapore in Neurology in 2010 and successfully completed the training in 2013. In the same year, he was awarded the Young Researcher award from the Department of Medicine at NUH. He was a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine Singapore and also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh). He has the American Society of Neuroimaging certification for Neurosonology (Trans Cranial Doppler and Extra Cranial Doppler) and also has ASEPA certification for EEG. He was awarded the RPNI (Registered Physician for Neurovascular Imaging) by the American Society of Neuroimaging. He last worked as a Senior Consultant in the Division of Neurology at NUH Singapore before deciding to move to establish his own practice.

During his tenure at NUH Singapore, he gained extensive experience in the treatment of Neurological Disorders. He is actively involved in formulating and modifying the protocol for Hyperacute Stroke care at NUH Singapore. For his work on the quality improvement project “reducing door time with needles” he was awarded as part of the “Mochtar Riady- Pinnacle Team Award” team in 2018. He also covers the Parkinson’s clinic at Ng Teng Fong General Hospital Singapore and is actively involved in the treatment of Parkinsonism patients. He has a keen interest in the treatment of other Neurological Disorders including Headache, Epilepsy, Movement Disorders, Nerve and Muscle Disorders, Neuro infectious, and Neuroinflammatory Disorders. He also worked as UMC (University Medicine Cluster) Clinician Lead for the High-Value Care Program and Director of Informatics, Division of Neurology. Through this, I assisted in the development of the Acute ischemic stroke VDO project and also supervised and guided me for the remaining VDO projects under the Department of Medicine. As director of Informatics contributed as SME for neurology for NGEMR build. Dr. Prakash had a keen interest in research involving Neurological Disorders. He has been widely published with numerous publications in the field of Neurology with a major area of ​​interest in stroke care. He has also published in the areas of Headache, Epilepsy, Neuropathies, Neurophysiology related approaches, and COVID affecting neurology diseases. He has a total of 52 international publications including book chapters (4) and 66 published abstracts in international peer-reviewed journals.

Dr. Prakash is closely involved in the education of medical students, residents, and senior residents of Neurology. She has been involved in evaluating medical students in the past and has also participated as a regular examiner for Neurology training in their In-Training Assessments. He is the lead instructor for Neurology Trainees for Hyperacute Stroke care simulation training at NUH Singapore. He has participated as a speaker and trainer for various symposiums conducted for various international delegates of Neurology for stroke care.
