Dr Peng Chan Wearn Benedict received his Doctor of Philosophy in 2001 from the University of Leeds, England. He continued his medical Qualification by adding an orthopaedic residency (Singapore) and fellowship training (Edinburgh) in orthopaedics. After completing his fellowship training in Spine Surgery, he went on to New York to complete his specialization training for Spinal Surgery. Dr Peng gained his EXPERIENCE YEARS at one of Singapore’s top spine surgery centres which sees a high volume of spine surgeries. His surgical EXPERIENCE YEARS covers degenerative disorders, deformity, injuries, cancers, parasites, and diseases of the spine.
Dr Peng Chan Wearn Benedict insists that his duty to his patients is to determine their condition, and then to provide them with the most suitable and efficient method of care. Dr Peng conducts minimally invasive spine surgery, a number of mobility preservation surgeries, artificial disc replacement and spinal deformity correction. Minimally invasive procedures he conducts as day surgery and thus not requiring hospitalization are: microdiscectomy , spinal injections to alleviate neck and back pain, vertebroplasty / kyphoplasty for spinal injuries, and percutaneous discectomy for slipped disc.
Dr Peng Chan Wearn Benedict has EXPERIENCE YEARS in spinal surgery for minimally invasive procedures. During minimally invasive surgery, patients are released from the hospital much more easily, and have improved cosmetic results. Peng’s study in this area is globally acclaimed. He is frequently invited to speak on his expertise with spine surgery in a variety of meetings, particularly international ones. He is a program specialist in spinal surgery and works as course faculty in several spine surgery courses. Often, he is employed to teach national surgical procedures in other nations. He performed studies on minimally invasive spine surgery such as minimally invasive spine fusion and percutaneous endoscopic discectomy, which were published in the prestigious journals Spine and World Neurosurg.
Dr Peng is concerned with developing motion preservation methods for researching and treating degenerative disorders in the spine. These modern spine surgery methods maintain spinal motion compared to conventional techniques for surgery. Dr Peng has presented his research in international conferences, and his thesis has been published in spine journals.
Dr Peng Chan Wearn Benedict is actively involved in research and is a core member of the AOSpine Research Committee, which coordinates research in the Asia Pacific region. He also has several peer review credentials around the globe.
Dr Peng Chan Wearn Benedict is a Specialist in Orthopaedic Surgery and is Trainer for the Orthopaedic Surgery Advanced Specialization Programme. He is a member of several spine societies including North American Spine Society, AO Spine, and The International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.
