Biography

Dr. Ng Zhi Xu is a specialist in Neurosurgery and his sub-specialty interests are in neurotrauma, neuro-oncology, and spine surgery. Dr. Ng worked in KTPH providing a full range of neurosurgical services. During his term in KTPH, he was deeply interested in teaching and was the chief organizer for GP and nursing forums. with the other neurosurgical specialists, he also helped organize an exam preparatory course to aid residents in their final specialist exams in 2018. While working at KTPH, he had collaborations with both National Neuroscience Institute (NNI) and National University Hospital (NUH), and has He has ongoing research grants and collaborations with NUH in developing modified stem cell treatments for resistant brain cancers. Dr. Ng left KPTH in Nov 2021 to embark on a new phase in his career with FeM surgery.

He graduated from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the National University of Singapore in 2007. He completed his basic medical training at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH) and Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH), as well as served 2 years in the Singapore armed forces as a Medical Officer. He commenced his neurosurgical training in January 2011. The training was based in NUH and KTPH where he developed his interests in neurotrauma, neurooncology, and spine surgery. Dr. Ng obtained his post graduate qualifications for Neurosurgery in October 2016 and completed his residency in June 2017. During his training, he completed a one-year fellowship in Neurosurgery at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge, United Kingdom, focusing on sub-specialties in spine and neuro-oncology. For the development and research in neurosciences, he has made several publications over the years in peer-reviewed journals, namely;

8. “Major workplace-related accidents in Singapore: A major trauma center’s experience” During his student days, Dr. Ng participated in a missionary trip organized by NUS to provide basic health services and education for the less fortunate in Cambodia. He is also an avid judoka since his school days and currently helps to train young judokas with The Dojo Singapore Judo.
