- Dr Ng Tsun Gun is a nephrologist who provides a wide range of general nephrology services. He offers specialized care in the diagnosis and treatment of resistant or difficult hypertension, glomerular disorders, diabetic kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, complicated urinary tract infections, and urinary calculi at his clinics in Mount Elizabeth Novena and Gleneagles Hospitals. He also cares for patients who need haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, or renal transplantation.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun completed his basic training and then completed Expert In training in Internal Medicine after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1998). (MRCP UK, 2003). He gained specialist accreditation in 2007 following his Advanced Specialist Training in Renal Medicine. He then completed a one-year fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia, funded by the Health Manpower Development Programme (HMDP) Award. His training there concentrated on recent advancements in haemodialysis treatment, including home and nocturnal haemodialysis. In 2009, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, and the following year was elected to the Academy of Medicine in Singapore.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun was previously a consultant in the Department of Renal Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. He was the Director of the Chronic Haemodialysis Program and Medical Director of Nephrocare Singapore Dialysis Center and B Braun Avitum Dialysis Center during his tenure. He continues to serve as a Visiting Consultant to the National Kidney Foundation and the Singapore Kidney Dialysis Foundation. - Dr Ng Tsun Gun has been a Clinical Teacher at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine since 2010, demonstrating a deep dedication to undergraduate and postgraduate medical Qualification. He was also named Core Clinical Faculty and Renal Medicine SubExpert In Coordinator for the Internal Medicine Residency Program at the National Healthcare Group. Additionally, Dr Ng applies to nursing Qualification. He is a Visiting External Lecturer for Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Health Sciences’ Advanced Diploma in Nursing course.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun also has a strong interest in science. While at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he served as the Principal Investigator for a number of international multi-centre randomised controlled trials involving patients with kidney diseases. He is also regularly invited to give lectures in both English and Mandarin at local and regional science meetings, as well as public forums.
Apart from his clinic and patients, Dr Ng is an active member of the nephrology community. He has served on the Singapore Society of Nephrology’s Executive Committee since 2008 and is currently serving his third elected term as Honorary Secretary. In 2003, he received the National Healthcare Group’s Courage Star Award for overcoming SARS, as well as Spring Singapore’s Excellent Service Award (Silver) in 2005.
Resistant or difficult hypertension, glomerular disorders, diabetic kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, complicated urinary tract infections, and urinary calculi are several of the clinical areas of focus.
