Dr Ng Tsun Gun is a renal specialist who provides a wide range of general nephrology services. He offers specialist care in the diagnosis and treatment of resistant or challenging hypertension, glomerular disease, diabetic kidney disease, chronic kidney disease, acute kidney injury, complicated urinary tract infections and urinary calculus at his clinic at Mount Elizabeth Novena and Gleneagles Hospitals. He also takes care of patients who need haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and renal transplantation.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun obtained basic training after graduating from the Faculty of Medicine at the National University of Singapore (MBBS, 1998) and then completed advanced training in Internal Medicine (MRCP UK, 2003). He received specialist accreditation in 2007 following his Specialized Specialist Training in Renal Medicine. Then, he undertook a one-year fellowship at the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane, Australia through the Health Manpower Development Program (HMDP) Grant. There, his training focused on recent advances in the treatment of haemodialysis, including home haemodialysis and nocturnal haemodialysis. He was appointed a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh in 2009 and was awarded the Fellowship of the Singapore Academy of Medicine the following year.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun was a consultant in the Department of Renal Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital prior to his relocation to private practice. He served as the director of the Chronic Haemodialysis Program during his tenure, and was the medical director of the Nephrocare Singapore Dialysis Centre and the B Braun Avitum Dialysis Centre. He remains a visiting advisor to the National Kidney Foundation and Singapore’s Kidney Dialysis Foundation.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun has been a Clinical Teacher at the National University of Singapore Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine since 2010, with his deep devotion to undergraduate and postgraduate medical Qualification. He was also named as the Core Clinical Faculty and Renal Medicine SubExpert In Supervisor for the Internal Medicine Residency Program of the National Healthcare Group. In addition, Dr Ng is also a contributor to nursing Qualification. He is a visiting external lecturer at Nanyang Polytechnic’s School of Health Sciences for the Advanced Diploma in Nursing Course.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun still has a keen interest in studies. In several international multi-centre randomised controlled trials involving patients with kidney disorders while at Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he was the Principal Investigator. He is also regularly invited to give lectures in both English and Mandarin at local and regional science meetings and at public forums.
Dr Ng Tsun Gun is strongly dedicated to the field of nephrology outside his clinic and patients. Since 2008, he has been a member of the Singapore Society of Nephrology’s Executive Committee and is currently in his third term as Honorary Secretary. He was awarded the Bravery Star Award for overcoming SARS by the National Healthcare Association in 2003 and the Excellent Service Award (Silver) by Spring Singapore in 2005.
