- Dr Mark Wong Te Ching is the Medical Director of Mark Wong Surgery and a Senior Consultant Surgeon at Mount Alvernia Hospital. Dr Wong formerly spent almost 15 years at Singapore General Hospital’s renowned Department of Colorectal Surgery, where he pursued his interests in minimally invasive colorectal cancer surgery (robotic and laparoscopic), endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), and functional disorders (piles, constipation and incontinence).
- Dr Mark Wong Te Ching earned two prestigious Ministry of Health (MOH) fellowships in Minimally Invasive Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Disorders in 2010 and 2014, respectively, in France and Denmark. He was appointed Director of the SGH Pelvic Floor Disorders Service shortly after his return, the nation’s first multidisciplinary initiative bringing together specialists in Colorectal Surgery, Urology, and Gynecology to provide comprehensive care for faecal incontinence, constipation, and pelvic organ prolapse. He was appointed Director of the SGH Gastrointestinal Function Unit in 2015, another first in the country, which provides comprehensive evaluation and sophisticated therapy for functional gastrointestinal illnesses.
- Dr Mark Wong Te Ching is a highly sought-after expert in the field of minimally invasive colorectal cancer and pelvic floor surgery, having been asked to talk at a number of international conferences. He has authored numerous publications and served on the medical advisory boards of several prominent Singapore hospitals. He is also committed to training the future generation of surgeons, having served as an academician at both Duke-NUS and the National University of Singapore Medical Schools. He was presented with the coveted SGH CEO Service Award in 2015 for his clinical expertise and compassion toward patients. He was awarded the prestigious SGH scholarship in 2016 to pursue an Executive Masters in Business Administration (MBA), which he finished with honors at the Singapore Management University in 2017.
- Despite a busy private practice, Dr Wong continues to lecture widely to medical professionals and the general public. He remains committed to sharing his knowledge and promoting awareness about the conditions in which he specialized, including serious conditions such as colon cancer and more common conditions such as piles, gastritis/GERD/reflux, gallstones, and hernia. He typically treats these problems with endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy), laparoscopic, and robotic surgery.
