Biography

Dr. Lim Mui Hong is a Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon who subspecializes in sports medicine. His clinical interests include the management of sports injuries and arthroscopic and open treatment of knee and shoulder conditions. Dr. Lim treats conditions such as cruciate ligament injuries, cartilage and meniscus injuries, multi-ligament knee injuries, patellar instability, osteoarthritis of the knee and shoulder, shoulder instability, and rotator cuff conditions. Prior to private practice, Dr. Lim has served in the public sector in various appointments. He was a Senior Consultant Orthopedic Surgeon at Tan Tock Seng Hospital’s Department of Orthopedic Surgery and the Head of Sports Medicine and Surgery Service. Dr. Lim has held various positions. He has participated in various peacekeeping, humanitarian assistance, and disaster relief missions. To date, he continues to contribute as during his time in the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) such as the Head of Soldier Performance Center at the Deputy Commander Military Medicine Institute. active NSman and a visiting consultant. Dr. Lim was awarded the Local Study Award (Medicine) from the SAF in 1992 to pursue his undergraduate studies at NUS, where he graduated in 1997. He received his Master of Medicine in Orthopedic Surgery in 2002 and completed his Advanced Specialist Training in Orthopedic Surgery in 2007. He is a Fellow of the Academy of Medicine of Singapore. Dr. Lim underwent postgraduate fellowship training in knee and shoulder surgery at Warringal Hospital and The Park Clinic in Melbourne, Australia. During the one-year overseas clinical fellowship program, he was trained in both arthroscopic and open surgeries of the knee and shoulder such as ligament reconstruction, shoulder stabilization, and joint replacement. Apart from clinical work, Dr. Lim is also active in clinical research and has published several scientific papers and a textbook chapter. He is a reviewer for various peer-reviewed journals. He has trained doctors in the Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program and overseas fellowships. He presents regularly at scientific conferences and contributes as a faculty member for courses. Dr. Lim is also passionate about golf and distance running. He participates regularly in both local and overseas half and full marathons. He has completed several overseas full marathons in cities such as Tokyo, Berlin, Honolulu, Gold Coast, Osaka, and Kobe.
