Dr. Lim Hwee Yong is a medical oncologist working at the Mount Elizabeth Novena Hospital, Novena Cancer Centre, where he provides cancer patients with advanced and personalized treatment.

Dr Lim Hwee Yong is also a visiting medical oncologist at the Singapore National Cancer Centre. He obtained his medical Qualification from the Central University of Ireland’s University College Dublin. He completed his postgraduate training at the University of Hawaii in Internal Medicine and training in Hematology and Medical Oncology at the University of Utah’s Huntsman Cancer Hospital. Dr. Lim is currently a licensed member of the American Board for Internal Medicine, Hematology and Medical Oncology. Dr. Lim joined the National Cancer Centre Singapore as a medical oncologist consultant on his return to

Singapore in 2010, and was a visiting oncologist at the Changi General Hospital, Singapore. He directs and actively participates in several important studies concerning various gastrointestinal and hepato-biliary cancers, as well as study into neuroendocrine tumors. He was part of the workgroup on peptide receptor radionuclide therapy that helped to develop this modern type of treatment in Singapore for neuroendocrine tumours. He chairs the blood transfusion committee at the Singapore National Cancer Centre and is a member of the steering committee for clinical trials. He was also the principal investigator of several research projects, including multiple projects awarded grants by the prestigious Singapore National Medical Research Council.

Dr Lim Hwee Yong is actively interested in the Qualification of physicians, students of medicine and nurses. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the Medical Oncology Residency that reviews and guides the framework of medical oncology training and acts as an examiner for exit examinations of medical oncologist trainees. He has reviewed and written book chapters in international journals and works as an editor of the book Neuroendocrine Tumours. He teaches medical students, as well as oncology and palliative care nurses, from Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore and Duke-National University of Singapore.

From 2012 to 2013, Dr Lim Hwee Yong was the President of the Singapore Society of Oncology. He is a founding member of the Hepato-Pancreatobiliary Association of Singapore. Dr. Lim is also a member of the American Clinical Oncology Society, the American Hematology Society, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the European Medical Oncology Society, and the Medical Association of Singapore.
