Dr Liauw Joo Yen Jennifer graduated in 1996 from Manchester University, UK. She embarked on her higher surgical training in the North West of England after gaining her membership from the Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS) in 1999. She then returned to Singapore to complete her training at the National University Hospital, Department of Surgery, and was awarded a Fellowship in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, FRCSEd, Edinburgh (GEN).

Dr Liauw Joo Yen Jennifer was registered by the Ministry of Health in 2004 as a fully qualified specialist in general surgery. In 2005, she became a Fellow of The Singapore Academy of Medicine.
Dr Liauw Joo Yen Jennifer returned to the UK in 2005 to complete her subExpert In training in colorectal surgery as a Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford under Prof Neil Mortensen.

After that, she returned to Singapore to work in the Colorectal Surgery Division, National University Hospital, and led the development of CARET, a one-stop rectal bleeding facility, and the opening of the Pelvic Floor Centre.

In colorectal disorders that commonly affect women, in particular anal fissures, haemorrhoids (piles), pelvic floor disorders and functional bowel disorders, Dr. Liauw has a special interest. She is passionate about inspiring her patients to make better choices and decisions. She then agreed to set up a dedicated private practice for colorectal surgery to assist patients at Gleneagles Hospital who preferred a female colorectal surgeon.
