EXPERIENCE YEARS
- Dr Liauw Joo Yen Jennifer earned a bachelor’s Qualification in 1996 from the University of Manchester in the United Kingdom. She began her higher surgical training in the North West of England in 1999, following her membership in The Royal College of Surgeons of England (MRCS). She returned to Singapore to complete her training at the National University Hospital’s Department of Surgery, where she was awarded the Fellowship of General Surgery, FRCSEd, by The Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh (GEN).
Dr Liauw Joo Yen Jennifer was licensed with the Ministry of Health in 2004 as a fully qualified specialist in general surgery. In 2005, she was elected a Fellow of The Academy of Medicine, Singapore. Dr. Liauw returned to the United Kingdom in 2005 as a Fellow in Colorectal Surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, where she completed her subExpert In training in colorectal surgery under Prof Neil Mortensen.
Following that, she returned to Singapore to work in the Division of Colorectal Surgery at the National University Hospital, where she was instrumental in establishing CARET, a one-stop facility for rectal bleeding, and the Pelvic Floor Centre. - Dr. Liauw is particularly interested in women’s colorectal disorders, particularly anal fissures, haemorrhoids (piles), pelvic floor disorders, and functional bowel disorders. She is committed to helping her patients to make educated choices. As a result, she established a dedicated private colorectal surgery practice to accommodate patients at Gleneagles Hospital who prefer a female colorectal surgeon.
