- Dr Leong Jern Lin is a Consultant Ear Nose and Throat Surgeon of ASCENT Ear Nose Throat Specialist Group and the Director of Sinus and Allergy Services. He is worldwide renowned for his surgical expertise and scholarly contributions in the fields of Nasal Allergy, Rhinology, and Nasopharyngeal Cancer (NPC) screening with Narrow Band Imaging. He is one of just a few ENT physicians who has received additional training in the medical and surgical treatment of nasal disorders ranging from allergy to sinusitis in children and adults. Additionally, he is a specialist in performing revision endoscopic sinus surgery on patients who have had prior nasal procedures fail. He is also a pioneer in Singapore for sublingual immunotherapy, which is primarily used in the paediatric ENT population.
- Dr Leong Jern Lin is a visiting consultant at Singapore General Hospital and KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital in the Department of Otolaryngology. He has developed a strong interest in both adult and paediatric ENT issues, including tonsils, adenoids, ears, thyroid, throat, salivary glands, and sleep disorders, during his years at these two hospitals. Dr Leong also directs internationally renowned courses on ENT Allergy, which cover topics such as food allergy, asthma, and eczema, as well as their impact on all ENT illnesses.
- Dr Leong Jern Lin graduated from the National University of Singapore with a medical Qualification in 1994. He finished his Otolaryngology Fellowship tests with the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow in 2000. In 2007, he was elected to the American Rhinologic Society’s (ARS) Fellowship. The ARS is the world’s largest physician association, devoted to the medical and surgical treatment of individuals suffering from nasal and paranasal sinus illnesses. Dr Leong was awarded a Singhealth Health Manpower Development Programme scholarship by the Ministry of Health in 2005 to pursue training in Rhinology and Allergy. He was the first Singaporean physician to be admitted for this famous one-year hands-on fellowship program at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in the United States of America. Professor Martin J. Citardi directed the fellowship, while Professor Pete Batra served as co-director, both of whom are internationally recognized experts in rhinology. Professor Citardi is presently the chairman of the Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery department at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, Texas, USA.
- Dr Leong Jern Lin has pioneered the use of image-guided surgery in ENT, particularly in functional endoscopic sinus surgeries (FESS) and minimally invasive endoscopic surgery of sinonasal and skull base tumors, since his return to the Singapore General Hospital in 2005. He was on the evaluation committee for the Khoo Teck Puat Neuro-Navigation Integrated Operating Suites, the world’s first fully integrated digital neuroscience center.
