Dr Leong Chi Sern Leslie is an orthopaedic surgeon who has expertise in Singapore healthcare system. The doctor is a specialist surgeon who can conduct joint replacement operations.
Dr Leong Chi Sern Leslie graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) in 1991. He got his Master’s Qualification in Medicine, Surgery and became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
In 2001, he was awarded a Ministry of Health scholarship to specialize in hip and knee arthroplasty at the Toronto Western Hospital. For more training, he also remained in the Mount Sinai Hospital and the Orthopaedic and Arthritis Hospital, as well as the London Health Sciences Centre.
After his return to Singapore, Dr Leong pioneered the use of minimally invasive surgery in hip and knee arthroplasty, computer aided surgery, alternative bearings in hip and knee replacement, various types of partial knee replacement, revision arthroplasty and pain management.
In the area of drug discovery and research training, he is the Principal Investigator in two clinical drug trials (Phase II and III). He has been involved in patient Qualification in the areas of osteoarthritis and hip and knee operations. With relation to health care, he is concerned with improving patient safety and has attended joint commission international advanced practitioner program for accreditation, quality assurance and patient safety in Chicago in 2007.
Before becoming a private practitioner, he worked as a consultant and director at the Changi General Hospital. He is a visiting clinical professor at NUS and a consultant at Changi General Hospital, St Andrews Community Hospital, and Spastic Children’s Association of Singapore (SCAS). He also contributes his time to acts of charity when he is willing.
