He specializes in childhood cancer and in pediatric haematology, which is the treatment of childhood blood disorders.
In the area of thalassaemia, an inherited blood disorder, Dr. Lee performed the first bone marrow transplant, following which the transplant became a conventional procedure for patients. The first case of umbilical cord blood transplantation was also conducted in Hong Kong in 1994 by Dr Lee.
Dr Lee Chi-Wai Anselm obtained postgraduate training from the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Hong Kong’s Queen Mary Hospital. He received a fellowship grant from the Croucher Foundation and sought subExpert In training in children’s cancer and bone marrow transplantation.
Dr Lee Chi-Wai Anselm was a board member of the Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Association and the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Research Group.
He is also a member of the Hong Kong Paediatric Haematology and Oncology Research Group, the International Society of Paediatric Oncology, and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine and the Hong Kong Paediatric Society.
