Dr Kavitha Kalaivani N received her medical Qualification from Madurai Medical College in 1999 and her diploma in ophthalmology from the same institution in 2002.

Later, from October 2002 to October 2004, he completed a two-year fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at the Medical Research Foundation, a unit of Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai. She is currently an Associate Consultant in the MRF, Sankara Nethralaya’s Paediatric Ophthalmology department. She also serves in the Hospital’s Neuro-ophthalmology department.

She has delivered papers at Tamilnadu State level ophthalmic conferences and All India Ophthalmic Society conferences. During her postgraduate studies and fellowship training, she attended a number of medical camps. In August 2004, she spoke to a group of teachers about common eye problems in schoolchildren at the National Hospital of Visually Handicapped in Poonamallee, Chennai.

In March 2007, Dr Kavitha Kalaivani N delivered a paper at the International Conference SERI ARVO in Singapore. She has given invited talks on pediatric ophthalmology at Annamalai University, Mysore, and other locations. She produced a DVD on strabismus surgical techniques for beginners, which was released by Health Minister Dr. Anbumani Ramdoss on December 7th at the Annual Strabismological Society of India Conference in Chennai.

She also attended the 2009 American Academy of Paediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus Conference in San Francisco, California.

Areas of particular interest: Her Special interest is peadiatric Neurophthalmology.
