Biography

Dr. Kau Chung Yuan is an Orthopedic Surgeon with a subspecialty interest in osteoarthritis, degenerative and inflammatory conditions in the hip and knees. He has performed many unicompartmental, as well as total and revision hip and knee surgeries. Partial Knee Arthroplasty (PKA) system and is a regional instructor for Oxford PKA. Before joining Synergy Orthopedics in 2021, Dr. Kau practiced at Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH). Being a member of TTSH’s strong orthopedic department since 2016 presented Dr. Kau with proficiency in trauma care and general orthopedics. In addition, he is versatile and skilled in fracture care, sports, and ligament reconstruction surgery. He is trained in the Direct Anterior Approach to the hip, which can benefit him early. Dr. Kau continues to innovate and collaborates with the orthopedic medical fraternity to bring medical technologies to Singapore. Dr. Kau is a graduate of the National University of Singapore, obtaining his medical degree in 2004. After graduating from NUS in 2004, Dr. Kau received his post-graduate degree in Orthopaedics and a certified Fellowship in Orthopaedic Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2014. In 2015, He was also awarded the Human Manpower Development Program (HMDP) scholarship by the Ministry of Health. He achieved his fellowship in Adult Reconstruction Surgery (Hip and Knee) in Southampton University Hospital, United Kingdom. Apart from clinical work, Dr. Kau has also contributed significantly to the medical field through teaching and research. He held concurrent appointments of an adjunct Assistant Professor and an Orthopedic Co-Lead for the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (NTU –Imperial College) He is also a Core Clinical Faculty Member with the NHG-AHPL Orthopedic Surgery Residency Program, which oversees the selection and training for future orthopedic surgeons.
