Biography

Dr. Karmen Wong is a consultant medical oncologist at Icon Cancer Center Farrer Park. She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK), with fellowships at the Academy of Medicine Singapore and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). She also holds memberships at the American Society of Medical Oncology, the Singapore Oncology Society, and the International Breast Cancer Study Group, and has consultant accreditation in Medical Oncology with Singapore’s Ministry of Health. She is currently involved in the ongoing Lapatinib study in breast cancer and had participated in a multi-center trial using Herceptin and chemotherapy for metastatic breast cancer. Her contributions to her field had been significant, having pioneered the first multidisciplinary breast cancer treatment in Singapore She also initiated the bone marrow transplant program in solid tumors in Singapore and spearheaded the multidisciplinary tumor board and the Brea.st, Cancer Clinic in Singapore General Hospital. Dr Wong also presented the 1st Asian study on attitudes toward cancer treatment among Asian patients at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology in 1999. Dr Wong’s specialty interests are breast, gastrointestinal and gynecological cancers.
