Dr Kan Yuk Man is a senior consultant surgeon with a Expert In in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Surgical Oncology with an emphasis on minimally invasive/keyhole surgery (MIS).

Dr Kan Yuk Man gained hands-on EXPERIENCE YEARS with fellowships in Tokyo, Hong Kong and Brisbane at world-renowned cancer keyhole surgery centers. He remains at the forefront of surgical oncology and is one of the few surgeons who can use this keyhole method effectively for stomach and oesophageal cancers in this area. Although surgically very complex with the need for considerably advanced surgical skills, this procedure has resulted in a much faster recovery time, less lung complications (30-40% reduction in the risk of pneumonia), less discomfort and much less complications for all patients operating in this manner.

Dr Kan Yuk Man formative training was in the field of Upper GI & Hepatobiliary Surgery at the Tertiary Surgical Unit of Addenbrookes University, United Kingdom, focusing on Upper GI tract disease for over 5 years.

Dr Kan Yuk Man spent several years in globally renowned units after completing his specialist surgical training in Cambridge, The National Cancer Centre and The Cancer Hospital (Tokyo, Japan), Prince of Wales Chinese University Hospital (Hong Kong) and Princess Alexandra Hospital (Brisbane, Australia), where he further developed and improved his skills in the field of stomach and oesopic surgery. A highlight of his EXPERIENCE YEARS and expertise is also the treatment of benign Upper GI conditions such as Barrett’s oesophagus, reflux/heartburn/gastritis, or basic and complex hiatus hernia.

Bariatric/metabolic surgery for overweight/obese patients is his other area of interest, which is now known as a treatment choice for those who are diabetic and obese. He performed his first laparoscopic gastric bypass in 2002 and has continued to operate on overweight patients annually since then (100kg to over 280kg in weight).

Dr Kan Yuk Man is frequently invited to participate in surgical workshops in the area for laparoscopic hernia surgery and Upper GI surgery as a tutor. He has held numerous positions as a passionate educator, including the teaching and continuing Qualification of junior surgeons. At medical conferences around the world, he has given numerous presentations (USA, UK, France, India, Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Vietnam and Thailand).
