Professional Statement
Dr Jaichandran started working as a full-time anesthetist in 1999. In November 2004, he was awarded a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia by the Sankara-Nethralaya –Orbis Pediatric Ophthalmology Learning and Training Centre.
In June 2004, he gave a workshop on neuromuscular monitoring at MACME. He also participated in a CME on Ophthalmic Anesthesia in December 2002 and a CME on Pediatric Anesthesia and Medicine in June 2005.
In 2003, 2004, and 2005, he participated in a CME program and a workshop organized by the Madras Medical College, MACME. In addition, he attended ISACON 2006, the 54th Annual National Conference of the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists, held at JSS Medical College in Mysore in December 2006, and the Asia-ARVO meeting on research in Vision and Ophthalmology, held in Singapore in March 2007.
In November 2005, Dr Jaichandran also attended a workshop on research methods at the PSG Hospital of Medical Science and Research in Coimbatore.
His special interests include anesthesia for premature babies, regional ophthalmic anesthesia, and ophthalmic anesthesia study. He has given a number of research papers at national and international conferences.
His free paper, “Intracuff Air Vs Saline Vs Alkalinised Lignocaine – A comparative analysis for smooth extubation in hyperactive airway patients undergoing eye surgery under general anesthesia,” was declared one of the best papers at the Indian Society of Anesthesiologists Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry branch annual state conference in July 2005. He is actively involved in a number of ophthalmic anesthesia research ventures.
