• Dr Hoe Ah Leong Justin previously served as a Consultant Surgeon at the Singapore General Hospital’s Department of Surgery (SGH). His active practice there encompassed all aspects of general surgery, including breast, thyroid, laparoscopic surgery (particularly gallbladder surgery), appendicectomies, inguinal hernia mesh repairs, abdominal surgeries for intestinal obstructions and cancer, and surgeries for common anal diseases such as piles, fistulas, and fissures. Dr. Hoe was also instrumental in the establishment of the first Breast Clinic at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and the establishment of Singapore’s first Breast Care Unit.
• Apart from his clinical practice, Dr Hoe volunteered as a Clinical Tutor at Singapore General Hospital to train junior doctors and nurses. Additionally, he was an active participant in a number of research projects that were discussed at regional and international conferences. His work has been published in a variety of prestigious national and foreign journals, including the British Journal of Cancer, the British Journal of Surgery, and the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Dr Hoe Ah Leong Justin has also been involved in community service and the Singapore Cancer Society, where he served on the Council for many years. He served as Chairman of the 2nd Asia-Pacific UICC Breast Cancer Support Conference’s organizing committee in 2004.
• Dr Hoe received a commendation as “Best Employee” in February 1990 while employed at Singapore General Hospital. Dr Hoe was nominated for the “Best Healthcare Professional of the Year” award in 2006 by the Straits Times’ Mind Your Body Supplement (18 October 2006), a competition focused on reader nominations and voting.
